LONDON: Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has said that Panama leaks have put Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in hot water.
“It is the beginning of the end of Nawaz’s politics,” he said in an interview with a British journal.
“How shameful it is that rulers from under developed countries stash hard earned money of people in offshore accounts,” he said.
He went on to say that motive behind formation of offshore companies is to provide protection to thieves. “The alliance of corrupt ruling elite is aimed at protecting each other despite the fact that they have joined political parties opposed to each other,” he added.
Responding to a question, he said, “The ruling elite is not only plundering money but also siphoning off the looted money to offshore accounts and evading tax.”
About Gold Smith election campaign, he said he is far away from politics of London. “Neither I have met Zac Goldsmith during my recent visit to London nor have I participated in his election campaign.”
Meanwhile, the PTI chief has condemned the attack on Karachi police, saying, the militant groups, which target forces and innocent people, do not deserve any concession. He alleged that police system in Punjab and Sindh has been destroyed due to illegal recruitments. Khan said that corruption is major hurdle in progress and development of the country. He said that his party has been demanding even-handed accountability of corrupt elements.
He said that the entire nation was with the army chief on the issue of corruption as people wanted corruption-free society, adding National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had disclosed that corruption of Rs 12 billion was committed every day.
